From generation to generation Singh family following the devise of capturing the moments in lens and making it forever memorable. They started from black and white photography in 1940 before partition Budhal (near Rajouri, J&K) by Late Sardar Budh Singh. After partition they shifted to India and started there photography in different part of northern India like Delhi, Kanpur, Basti, Gonda and Bahraich.

After that Sardar Balwant Singh our grandfather started a studio at P road Kanpur by name of Kashmir Studio. He was also the President of Kanpur Photography Association for many years. Sardar Kulwant Singh (Billa ji) and Sardar Baljeet Singh (Laddy ji) continuing the legacy of Kashmir studio from 1970 to 2010. Now the fourth generation of Kashmir Studio following the tradition of photography and Gurpreet Singh Chawla is running the studio in Govind Nagar Kanpur.
